Bath Spa University has a good working relationship with First Bus and we look to ensure that all practical measures are put in place to assist students and the wider community with a reliable and frequent service.

However, as Bath is a compact city, the timings of the buses are indicative and during peak periods the road network can get very congested. It is worthwhile keeping an eye on both the Firstbus and University Twitter feeds relating to bus travel:

Bath City Centre to Newton Park Campus

First Bus operate the service 15 between Bath city centre and the Newton Park campus via Oldfield Park, Windsor Bridge and Newbridge Road. This service operates every 15 minutes throughout the peak daytime periods in both directions. In the evenings, buses run until approximately 3am. Please be aware that timetables change between holday and term dates.

First Bus also operate services 337 and X39 between the bus station in Bath city centre and the Globe roundabout.  From there, it is an easy 20 minute walk up the driveway to the Newton Park campus, or you can catch the Service 15 up the drive without needing to buy another ticket... just present your X39 or 337 ticket to the driver.

Bath City Centre to Sion Hill Campus

For those studying at the Sion Hill campus, First Bus operate service 2 from the city centre, which drops off at the junction of Lansdown Road and Sion Road.

Bugler logo

In response to student and staff feedback we are providing a shuttle bus between Waterside Court / Charlton Court halls of residence to the Sion Hill campus. The University has negotiated special rates for this bus service. The return fare to Sion Hill is £2.50 whilst a weekly bus ticket is available from the cashiers office at Sion Hill for £10.00. Please note that as this is a charter bus, Firstbus bus passes and concessionary fares are not valid.

We would encourage students to make use of the shuttle bus thereby enabling the University to consider extending the service for the whole academic year. This service is operated by Bugler and stops directly outside the halls. At Sion Hill the bus stops directly outside of the top car park - by Winifreds Lane.  Please see the attached poster for further information

Pedestrians are advised against walking up Winifreds Lane, due to safety concerns.  They should instead enter via the main gates on Sion Hill Place.

Bath City Centre to Bath Community Academy (Culverhay) and Southdown School

WessexConnect's buses operate service 20a/c that runs from Bath city centre, through Oldfield Park, Twerton, Whiteway, Southdown (close to the Infant and Junior Schools), past Culverhay campus and onto the University of Bath.

You can also catch First Bus' service 10, which travels between the bus station and Englishcombe Lane (a two minute walk from the school). For more information, please see the following document:

For Corsham Court Campus

First Bus service 231/232 runs between Bath and Chippenham via Corsham.  The closest bus stop to Corsham Court is Newlands Road, and from there it's just a short walk to the mansion house.

Faresaver operate service X31, which runs half hourly from Bath Bus Station to Corsham.

Purchase a First Bus South West ticket for journeys between Bath and Corsham. These passes also allow you to use First Bus services in and around the South West area, make a day of it and explore Bristol.
