Why Should I Give?

A Message from Professor Slade

Universities transform lives. It is the role of every university to provide the resources and ideas that will enable students to think in new and different ways, to encourage them to challenge accepted norms, and give them the opportunity to envisage unlimited options for their futures.

Here at Bath Spa University, our cultural and educational ambition is to be the leading creative arts university in the United Kingdom. We are well known nationally and internationally for our achievements as an art school - with Howard Hodgkin amongst our notable alumni - and for our innovation in the performing arts - alumnus Anthony Gregory is an English National Opera Harewood Artist. Our creative writing programme is recognised as one of the best in England - producing alumni such as Nathan Filer, winner of the Costa Book of the Year 2013 for his debut novel. Our School of Education is firmly established as among Britain’s most highly rated in teacher education and education studies - Ofsted outstanding.

We maximise our income from fees, research, the use of our real estate and our income generating activities. Nevertheless, we need investment to continue to extend our creative capacity and innovation by:

  • providing our students with the best environment

  • continuing to attract high quality academics to strengthen our teaching and research

  • developing first-rate facilities and resources for learning

  • delivering engaged research with impact

  • enriching the student experience, and

  • enhancing our long-term financial capacity.

I am asking you to join me by making a donation today in support both our scholars and also our teaching and research staff. Your investment will help transform the future of our remarkable students and academics, enabling them to develop creative solutions that address some of society’s big issues, shape the way we live and generate cultural vitality.
