Bath School of Art and Design Students Exhibit Their Talent

Bath Spa University is staging an exhibition of work by graduating students as they successfully complete their undergraduate courses in fine art, interdisciplinary art, textile design, fashion design, ceramics and graphics.

The Bath School of Art and Design 2010 Degree Show will open its doors to the public from Saturday 12 June at the University's Sion Hill campus and at its premises in Linear Way, Dartmouth Avenue in Bath.

A diverse range of work will be on view, all at the high level of creativity and craft that you expect from students at the School. With a history dating back to 1852, Bath School of Art and Design continues to produce graduates with the skills to make a difference in the world. Their work is engaging, challenging and of a professional calibre.

The Fine Art students will present work including painting and sculpture that builds on the School's heritage of international-standard artistry. Creative Arts students will demonstrate their promise as a growing breed of interdisciplinary artists who work across art, dance, music, creative writing, textiles and drama, often with novel results.

The contribution from the School's graphic designers builds on their reputation for well crafted and thoughtful work across the range of visual communication disciplines, with a particular strength in illustration and publication. Meanwhile the ceramics work on display demonstrates the abilities of the students to think and create in a 3D medium.

Students graduating in Fashion Design and Textile Design continue to impress with their variety of skills and ability to challenge traditional concepts. Among the exhibits you will see stitched metal, printed toys, animated dancers, concepts for furnishing, fabric jewelry, bags, lighting, fashion fabrics and a story about cress - all under one roof.

Students will also be selling some of their works during the show.

The degree show has a private viewing at 6pm on Friday 11 June, then will be open to all from Saturday 12 June to Wednesday 16 June, 10am to 5pm.
