Carrie's Collection Shortlisted for London Poetry Prize
The first collection of poems by Bath Spa University lecturer Dr Carrie Etter has been shortlisted for the London Festival Fringe New Poetry Award 2010.
Carrie's volume, 'The Tethers', was published by Seren Books in June last year and has been widely and positively reviewed.
In the Times Literary Supplement reviewer Ben Wilkinson wrote: "The Tethers marks the arrival of an original talent and is surely one of the most ambitious and accomplished first collections in recent years."
Carrie Etter is an American poet and Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University, where she has taught since 2004. She is also a regular reviewer of contemporary poetry for the Times Literary Supplement and various periodicals.
She is currently at work on an essay on prose poetry and other hybrid forms for The Oxford Handbook of British and Irish Contemporary Poetry, due to be published by Oxford University Press in 2012.
The winner of the London Fringe award, for the best new poetry, will be announced on 16 August.
