Talent and Excellence Scholarship

A potential £750 to help your uni life.

Frequently asked questions

How do I qualify for the scholarship?

To qualify, you’ll need to be a full-time undergraduate student who pays UK (home) tuition fees, and starting your studies in September 2019. You’ll then need to meet one of  three criteria:

  • Achieve better than your predicted grades, or
  • Display outstanding talent or promise in the creative or performing arts, or
  • Achieve outstanding grades of at least AAB in your A-levels (or equivalent).

How do I apply for the scholarship?

You’ll be automatically entered for a scholarship, as long as you meet one of the three qualification criteria. You simply need to follow the standard UCAS application process to study at Bath Spa University.

How will I know if I’ve got the scholarship?

The Student Finance Office will write to you and email your student account. Please make sure that you check your account regularly as it contains important information about the payment of your scholarship.

Can I get more than one Talent and Excellence scholarship?

You can only receive one scholarship worth £750 from this specific scheme. However, there are other scholarships and forms of financial support available.

How and when will I receive my scholarship?

You’ll hear whether you’ve qualified for your scholarship within the first four weeks after you've enrolled on the 2019/2020 academic year. If you’ve met the conditions and are continuing your studies at Bath Spa University, you’ll receive £750 towards the end of January 2020.

How will I receive the money?

We’ll make a payment directly into your account via BACS. To receive your payment, it’s essential you enter your bank details into the university portal. If we don’t have your details, we can’t make the payment.

How will I know if I’ve displayed ‘outstanding talent or promise’ in the creative arts?

If you’ve shown us your portfolio or attended an audition, this will be decided by the academic selection panel. You’ll need to have scored in the top 10% of all applicants for that course.

What if I want to defer my place?

If you choose to defer you place (or suspend your studies before January 2020) you won’t be eligible for the Talent and Excellence scholarship. If you’ve already deferred and are planning to register on a September 2019 course, you will be eligible for the scholarship – as long as you can prove you’ve met the qualification criteria.

What if I decide to change course at Bath Spa University – will I still get my scholarship?

Yes, you’ll still receive your scholarship, provided the new course meets the original scholarship criteria and is a full-time Bath Spa University undergraduate degree due to begin in September 2019.

Our Talent and Excellence scholarship is just one of three ways to help you take that important first step to whatever you want to be.
