Examination Boards
Membership
The composition of the Examination Board for the Modular Scheme is:
- Senior Academic nominated by the Vice-Chancellor (Chair)
- Head of Modular Scheme
- External Examiner(s) for whole programme of study
- Head of each School or nominee
- Up to two other members nominated by the Chair
The composition of the Examination Board for any other programme is:
- Senior Academic nominated by the Vice-Chancellor (Chair)
- Programme manager(s) for discrete award(s)
- External Examiner(s) for discrete award(s)
- No less than four and no more than seven members of staff responsible for assessment of the programme
The Registrar (or nominee(s)) acts as Officer for Examination Boards.
Terms of Reference
- To determine progression and/or outcomes of student assessment and to make awards of the University on behalf of the Academic Board.
- To determine the results of any allegation of unfair practice in relation to a student assessment.
Notes
These arrangements were approved by Academic Board at its meeting of 23 January 2002.
The arrangements described above relate to examination boards that are responsible for making awards. These boards may be informed by "Sub-Boards" at subject or course/programme levels.
