Membership
- Head of School (Chair)
- Members of the School as established by the Head of School
- One student in the School nominated by the President of the Students' Union
- An external member with expertise in a subject relevant to the School
Terms of Reference
- To advise the Vice-Chancellor and Academic Board on the development of the academic activities of the School and the resources necessary to support them.
- To implement Academic Board policy for quality assurance in the programmes of study and parts of programmes of study for which the School is responsible, including arrangements for the validation [now called approval] of new programmes and the review of existing ones.
- To advise the Registrar on admissions to the programmes of study and parts of the programmes of study for which it is responsible.
- To implement Academic Board policy on ensuring standards of the awards for which the School is responsible.
- To consider and to recommend external and internal examiners to Academic Board.
- To ensure implementation of Academic Board policies and procedures on examinations and assessment.
- To discuss and develop the curriculum of programmes of study within the School.
- To determine research priorities within the School.
- To advise the Head of School on staff-development requirements of the staff within the School.
