First Bus operate services into Bath and Chippenham from locations as far afield as Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire and Bristol.
For Newton Park, Sion Hill and Culverhay Campuses in Bath
Bath City Centre to Newton Park Campus
Work has now begun to resurface the A4 dual-carriageway between the A36 junction for Twerton On Avon, and the Globe roundabout. The roadworks will last until 16 April 2010. For most of this time, the X39/337 bus stops at the Globe roundabout will be moved to temporary locations closer to Saltford, the 418/419 will have a temporary stop at the bottom of Corston driveway. Extra time should be allowed for any bus journey as the roadworks are expected to significantly disrupt the running times of the 418/419/X39/337. We will update this webpage once we have received further information from First Bus and the Council.
First Bus operate the Bright Orange Buses, which run between Bath city centre and the Newton Park campus every 20 minutes during term-time. Services 418 and 419 to Newton Park leave from Broad Quay (stop Ww), 200m from the railway station (turn left onto Dorchester Street and follow the line of the river):
- Service number 418 runs past the Sainsbury's superstore, through lower Oldfield Park, then across the river and along Newbridge Road.
- Service number 419 runs in the morning and early evening only, along Lower Bristol Road, through lower Twerton and past the Waterside Court and Charlton Court halls of residence.
Articulated, "bendy buses" carry 140 people. Please move down the bus to the back when you board and don't obstruct entry or exit doors.
First Bus also operate services 337 and X39 between the bus station in Bath City Centre and the Globe roundabout. From there, it is an easy 20 minute walk up the driveway to the Newton Park campus.
Bath City Centre to Sion Hill Campus
For those studying at the Sion Hill campus, First Bus operate service number 2 leaving from the Ambury (stop Wq), off Broad Quay, which drops off at the junction of Lansdown Road and Sion Road.
Bath City Centre to Culverhay Campus
Uni Connect operate service number 20a that runs from Bath city centre, through Oldfield Park, Twerton, Whiteway, Southdown (close to the Infant and Junior Schools), past Culverhay campus and onto the University of Bath.
Inter-site Buses
Uni Connect also run an inter-site bus called SpaLink between Newton Park and Sion Hill campuses, via Culverhay, Dartmouth Avenue, Waterside Court and Charlton Court halls of residence, and the Sainsbury's superstore.
For Corsham Court Campus
First Bus service number 231 runs between Bath and Chippenham via Corsham. The closest bus stop to Corsham Court is Newlands Road, and from there it's just a short walk to the mansion house.
