Travel by Car

Due to limited parking at our campuses, Bath Spa University encourages people to use public transport whenever possible.  If, however, you do need to travel by car, please follow these directions.

For Newton Park, Sion Hill and Culverhay Campuses in Bath

Work has now begun to resurface the A4 dual-carriageway between the A36 junction for Twerton On Avon, and the Globe roundabout.  The roadworks will last until 16 April 2010. During this time, contra-flows and reduced speed limits will be in operation.

• From the M4 motorway, join the A46 southbound at junction 18;
• After descending the hill into the Avon valley, turn right onto the A4 into Bath;
• At traffic lights (by A36 turnoff), get into the right hand lane and proceed straight ahead along the A4;
• Take second exit at mini-roundabout along the A4;
• At traffic lights (by Lansdown Road turnoff), proceed straight ahead along the A4 George Street;
• At end of George Street, turn left following the A4 along Gay Street towards Queens Square;
• For Newton Park campus:
  • Exit Queens Square onto the A4 Queens Square Place/Charlotte Street;
  • At traffic lights (by A3064 turnoff), get into the right-hand lane and proceed straight ahead along A4 Upper Bristol Road;
  • At traffic lights (by A431 turnoff), get into the left-hand lane and proceed along A4 Newbridge Road;
  • After crossing the river, turn right at lights onto dual carriageway (A4);
  • Take second exit at "Globe Inn" roundabout to join the A39. The campus entrance is immediately on your left;
  • Watch out for bendy busses and pedestrians along the driveway, and use passing bays when necessary. The speed limit is 15mph.
• For Sion Hill campus:
  • Exit Queens Square onto the A4 Queens Square Place/Charlotte Street;
  • Turn right onto Marlborough Lane (signposted "Bath Spa University");
  • At junction, cross straight over onto Cavendish Road and climb hill;
  • At junction, turn left for Sion Hill.
• For Culverhay campus:
  • Exit Queens Square onto the A367 Chapel Row and proceed down Charles Street;
  • At traffic lights at the bottom of the hill, get into the left-hand lane and proceed straight ahead along Green Park Road;
  • Follow the line of the river, then turn left onto Avon Street and immediately right onto Corn Street;
  • Turn right onto Saint James Parade and get into the right-hand lane;
  • Take the next left after the bus station to cross the river;
  • Turn onto the roundabout under the railway arches and take the second exit onto the A367 Wells Road;
  • Continue up the A367 for 2 miles until you reach the "Red Lion" roundabout (by A3062 turnoff);
  • Take the third exit onto Frome Road;
  • At the next roundabout, take the third exit onto Rush Hill;
  • After 200 meters, Culverhay School is on your left;
  • Only enter the gate marked "Bath Spa University".

For Corsham Court Campus

From The M4 Motorway

• From the M4 motorway, join the A350 southbound at junction 17;
• After 2.5 miles, at the roundabout, take the second exit onto the A350 Cepen Way;
• After 1.7 miles, at the roundabout, take the fourth exit onto the A4 Bath Road;
• After 0.5 miles, enter Corsham town, and proceed straight ahead at the traffic lights to the next mini roundabout;
• Turn left at the roundabout (adjacent to Hare and Hounds Public House);
• Follow signs towards town centre;
• At second roundabout, take the first exit left onto Newlands Road;
• At next roundabout, take the second exit right onto Post Office Lane (just past the Somerfield store);
• Follow the road around to the left and onto the High Street and follow parking instructions below.

From Bath

• Take A4 towards Corsham/Chippenham;
• Upon entering Corsham, take second exit at roundabout onto B3353 Pickwick Road;
• Follow signs towards town centre;
• At second roundabout, take the first exit left onto Newlands Road;
• At next roundabout, take the second exit right onto Post Office Lane (just past the Somerfield store);
• Follow the road around to the left and onto the High Street and follow parking instructions below.

Where to Park Your Car

As you turn onto the High Street the Royal Oak public house is approximately 45 meters on the right hand side.  Parking for all visitors and students is located in the car park to the rear (parking permission notice/sign required – available from School Administrators).

Please note that no parking is available within the grounds of Corsham Court and parking is not permitted in Church Square.
