At Bath Spa University, we know education - we’ve been inspiring students, teachers and other education professionals since 1946.

Bath Spa Institute for Education

Facilities

Our facilities are some of the best in the world. Whether you are based in school, on a placement, or attending seminars at Newton Park, you'll be offered the very best facilities to help you study and learn. Based primarily at Newton Park campus or our school-based Culverhay site for teacher training, your time here is guaranteed to provide a supportive experience for your studies.

Location

The Institute for Education's main hub is the beautiful Newton Park campus, providing workshops, studios, seminar rooms, lecture theatres and the specialist library. Education has been at the heart of Newton Park since 1946.

In addition we have a few other sites tailored to different specialisms. For our teacher training programmes, our school-based Culverhay site is a dedicated centre and perfect home for the university-based elements of your studies. We also work with over 670 schools in the region – all dedicated to making school-based training the very best experience and to preparing you for your future careers in the field of education.

History

We know a lot about education at Bath Spa – Newton Park first opened as Newton Park Teacher Training College in 1946, following the post-war shortage of teachers.

For over 70 years, we've been training the next generation of great teachers – and been rated as Ofsted 'outstanding' across our Primary and Secondary teacher training provision. As well as becoming teachers, graduates from the Institute for Education go on to explore a diverse range of career paths in the field of education, with our undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes offering a broad, global context that will prepare you for whichever career path you choose to follow.

Ethos

The Institute is a place where students, teachers, governors, researchers, support staff and everyone interested in education can come together in a community of research and practice.

We are committed to providing a creative space to encourage innovative educational practice, through the promotion of debate, professionalism, expertise and partnership that creates globally aware, socially responsible and successful learners.
