Following its success last year, FutureFair² returns to Bath Spa University’s Newton Park campus on Wednesday 9 May, bringing together career advice and opportunities for students.

Organised by the university’s School of Humanities & Cultural Studies, FutureFair² will offer students inside information from industry professionals and recent Bath Spa graduates working in a wide range of arts and humanities fields.

The event opens with a discussion panel on working in the events industry, featuring Bath Festivals’ director of marketing Owen NcNeir and Lynne Locker from Bath & North East Somerset Council’s events and support office.

Q&A sessions will run throughout the course of the day during which professionals will talk about their own careers and how they first got their foot in the door. Areas covered include: marketing and PR; publishing and journalism; history and heritage; teaching and travel; charities and volunteering.

Taking part in the sessions will be Susan Hammond (Just V), Sue Tilley (Bath & North East Somerset Council) and Laura Baker, a senior editor at Paragon Books, as well as representatives from Experience Teaching Abroad.

FutureFair² will take place in Newton Building at Newton Park on Wednesday 9 May from 9am to 4pm, and is open to students from all courses and year groups interested in careers in the arts or humanities.

Marc Leverton, Employability Tutor at Bath Spa University said: "FutureFair was extremely popular last year and so we have high hopes for this year’s FutureFair². We’ve got a really interesting and mixed bunch of professionals and recent graduates taking part, who should provide students with both inspiration and practical tips.

"One student who attended last year's event met Bath-based Anthem Publishing, who she then got an internship with, and from that she has just been taken on full-time.

"The event is open to all our students but will be of most interest to those studying creative and humanities subjects who are keen to develop their employability."
