Sprinter and Paralympic silver medallist Ben Rushgrove will offer an insight into the opportunities that led him to achieve success in his sport at an equalities event in Bath next week.
Hosted by Bath Spa University and the University of Bath, the annual Joint Equality Forum takes place on Thursday 15 March and has taken the Olympics and Paralympics as its inspiration.
The event organisers hope to bring the Olympic and Paralympic values of respect, excellence, friendship, courage, determination, inspiration and equality to life in a university context.
Ben Rushgrove will provide the key note address and will answer questions from the audience.
Local community groups and employers will join students and staff from both universities to take part in workshops exploring issues around equalities in our universities using equality in sport as a platform for discussion and debate.
They will consider how we can create opportunities in universities and topical issues such as racism in football, as well as mental health issues in sport and coaching for students with protected characteristics.
Ben Rushgrove said: "I am really looking forward to having a discussion about equality and equal opportunities in sport and the wider community. Hopefully my presentation will help both in summarising some issues and raising new ones."
The Joint Equality Forum takes place at Bath Spa University’s Newton Park campus on Thursday 15 March from 9.30am to 3.15pm.
