Bath Spa University's Rob Brown, Digital Academy Senior Lecturer in Film and Creative Production, has been selected for the BBC's Hot New Talent list. Creative leaders from across the BBC have identified over 200 broadcasting stars of the future and Rob is one of them under the category of Directors.
Rob said: "It has been a great month with a Royal Television Society award win, being selected for the BBC New Talent Hotlist and then directing three episodes of Doctors on BBC 1 over Easter. This is something that will inform my teaching this year as I'm a firm believer that our courses at Bath Spa needs to be in line with current industry practise to give our graduates the best chance of breaking into the industry".
Susan McMillan, Head of the Digital Academy at Bath Spa University, said: "Creating a pipeline for new talent is essential for the future of the BBC and the wider UK creative industry. It's highly relevant to what we do here at Bath Spa within the Digital Academy. Our aim, over the next few years, will be to inspire, develop and support the next generation of creative talent amongst our staff and students".
Rob teaches on undergraduate courses Creative Media Practice, Film, TV and Digital Production and is the Course Leader for MA Feature Filmmaking and MA Independent Film Making which is supported by Pinewood Studios Group.
Recently Rob's feature-length film Sixteen won two awards from The Royal Television Society.
