I started working as a technician for Bath Spa University in 2005, after graduating from Plymouth University with a BSc (Hons) in Marine Biology and Coastal Ecology.
In my current position I support practical classes for the degree programmes in Biology, Environmental Science, Food with Nutrition, Human Nutrition and Geography. This involves preparation of equipment and test materials beforehand and support during classes to provide effective learning environments for students. Alongside practical classes I support individuals, including dissertation students on a one-to-one basis.
Since 2005 I have specialised in the laboratory analysis of nutrients in soils, waters and leachates, working with dissertation students to complete individual projects and aiding colleagues with research projects.
I am currently working towards a postgraduate certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and developing Registered Science Technician (RSciTech) status through the Institute of Food Science and Technology.
