EYPS Events
Early Years Professional Status is an exciting Government initiative aimed at raising the quality of early years provision in the UK. If you feel you can make a difference to the lives of babies, young children and their families, please visit us at one of our events to find out more.
- EYPS Information Evening: Our EYPS information evenings
are ideal for graduates wanting to find out about becoming an Early Years
Professional. The evening will include presentations from staff, and recent
trainees, about the four flexible pathways to gaining EYPS. Click on the

- Wednesday 24 March 2010 - Newton Park Campus, 18:00h to 20:00h.
- Thursday 29 April 2010 - Corsham Court Campus, 17:00h to 19:00h.
- General Drop-In Events: Our EYPS open evenings and mornings are the ideal way to find out about the four flexible pathways on offer for graduates interested in becoming an Early Years Professional. There is no need to book a place for these events and new dates will be announced soon.
- Sector Events: We exhibit at both graduate, and sector
specific Early Years events. Details of these can be found below:
- Friday 25 to Saturday 26 June 2010 - The Childcare and Nursery Show at Bournemouth International Centre. Visit us at stand number S1.
- Saturday 20 March 2010 - Childcare Careers and Training Exhibition at the Crown Hotel, Blandford, 10:00h to 12:00h.
- Open Days: You can also find out about our EYPS courses at our main Open Days. You will have an opportunity to have a look around the Newton Park campus and can sit in on general talks for Early Years Education.
PGCE Events
The University regularly hold Initial Teacher Education events for those wanting to find out more about becoming a teacher and the full range of PGCE courses on offer. Our events give you an opportunity to discover what's involved, the qualifications you need, the prospects you have and the financial support you will get.
- General Drop-In Events: The PGCE open evenings and
mornings provide an informal way to find out more about becoming a teacher.
There is no need to book a place for these events, they are open to all and
you will find us ready with all the answers:
- Saturday 13 March 2010 - Watershed, Bristol, 10:00h to 12:00h;
- Saturday 15 May 2010 - Francis Hotel, Bath, 10:00h to 12:00h;
- Tuesday 15 June 2010 - Bath Spa University, Newton Park Campus, Main House, room 111, 17:00h to 19:00h;

- Taste of Teaching: The University runs a 'taste of
teaching' event aimed specifically at potential teachers of the Priority
Secondary Subjects - these being Science, Mathematics, Modern Languages,
Music, Design and Technology, Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
You will have the opportunity to observe subject specific teaching sessions,
meet with course leaders and current trainees and find out more about
becoming a teacher. Click on the link below to book your place:
- Date to be confirmed - Culverhay Campus, 09:15h to 15:30h.
- Taster Courses: A taster course gives you an
opportunity to find out whether teaching is the right career for you. You
will learn about education today, spend a day in a school and benefit from
practical advice and guidance on your next steps. There are currently no
dates for the next courses, but please register your interest below and we
will notify you with details when announced. Alternatively, please check the
TDA website for other taster courses coming up in the area:
