Your Future Career

Helping you plan and work towards your future career options.

As a graduate, you will have achieved much more than a degree in a specific area of study. In the course of your studies, you'll acquire and refine a whole range of skills that will make you a sought-after employee. Our aim is to enhance the future work prospects of all Bath Spa University graduates. We want to make sure that you are well positioned to identify - and secure - the right job for you.

We'll encourage you to think about your future right from the start of your university career, and make use of the wide ranging careers resources and advice at any time during your studies - and even after you graduate.

Careers advice for every student

You will find a wealth of information in the Careers Service, whatever stage you're at in your career search - whether you're exploring your options, developing your skills, identifying opportunities or promoting yourself to employers.

What Sort Of Jobs Do Bath Spa Graduates Go On To?

Anything from self-employment in the creative industries (a popular option for many of our arts graduates) to graduate training schemes, teaching, administration - the list is endless! Each of the course pages in this prospectus gives an idea of the sort of careers open to graduates from the course. Some students go on to high profile jobs with fashion houses such as Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen. One former music student is now head of Ringtones at Sony, others work for the BBC and other media outlets.

Job Shop

Want to find part-time work while you're a student? The Job Shop is here to help!

The Job Shop is part of the Careers Service and offers a free service to students, helping you to find part-time work, both on campus and in the Bath area. We encourage employers to understand your needs as a student with a busy course timetable. In return for your valuable input into the workplace, your local employer provides good quality, well-paid jobs, offering you the chance to develop skills that will be invaluable in the graduate job-seeking process - as well as earning money in the process. You should expect to work no more than 15 hours per week.

Gaining Practical Experience

The majority of our students go on work-based placements, either as an intrinsic part of their course or through the Professional and Academic Development/Employability programme. Many courses also incorporate fieldwork and study visits, helping you put theory into practice.
