Granting us Permission to use Cookies

If the settings on your software that you are using to view this website (your browser) are adjusted to accept cookies, we take this, and your continued use of our website, to mean that you are fine with this. Should you wish to remove or not use cookies from our site you can learn how to do this below, however doing so will likely mean that our site will not work as you would expect.

Turning Cookies Off

You can usually switch cookies off by adjusting your browser settings to stop it from accepting cookies (learn how at www.allaboutcookies.org). Doing so however will likely limit the functionality of ours, and a large proportion of the world's websites, as cookies are a standard part of most modern websites.

It may be that your concerns around cookies relate to so called "spyware". Rather than switching off cookies in your browser, you may find that anti-spyware software achieves the same objective by automatically deleting cookies considered to be invasive. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the Bath Spa University website, such as course pages. We collect this information in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

We use Google Analytics to help analyse use of our website. This analytical tool uses cookies to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information in an anonymous form. The information generated by the cookies about your use of the website (including your IP address) is transmitted to Google. To opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites visit http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Bath Spa University will not use the statistical analytics tool to track or to collect any personally identifiable information of visitors to our site. We will not associate any data gathered from this site with any personally identifying information from any source as part of our use of the Google statistical analytics tool.

Some of our web pages contain social networking buttons and functions, from providers such as AddThis, Facebook, Twitter and Google, to enable the sharing of pages. The scripts used to generate these buttons come from from third-party websites and the third-parties might be gathering usage information and setting their own cookies. Staff and Student Web Pages

Every member of staff or individual student wishing to place material on our servers has to agree to the University's Regulations For Use of Computer Facilities which forbids them from publishing libellous or illegal content. These regulations are based on UK law.

Any individual who breaks these regulations will have their pages removed immediately and, where the content of the pages is found to be illegal, Bath Spa University will refer the matter to the appropriate authorities.

Bath Spa University makes every effort to check the content of the staff and student homepages contained on this server on a regular basis. However the uploading of personal websites is carried out entirely by the individuals who own the pages, and therefore Bath Spa University cannot guarantee that pages will be totally free from libellous or illegal content.
