How To Apply

If you are considering applying to Bath Spa University for Postgraduate Research study (PhD or MPhil) you should first contact the appropriate School or Subject representative (listed below) before submitting a formal application to the Graduate College. An academic member of staff will be able to discuss your proposed project and potential supervision arrangements.

If you are interested in a PhD in Creative Writing please follow this link: https://www.bathspa.ac.uk/research/phd-opportunities/phd-creative-writing where you will find full details of this programme and how to apply.

We have three intakes a year for postgraduate research, on 1 October 1 February, and 1 May.

You should submit your application form at least 6-8 weeks before your intended start date.

You will need to complete and submit the formal application form, which can be downloaded from the link below. CVs are not accepted.

Along with the application form, you must provide copies of your degree certificates and transcripts of your results. You may also be asked for a sample of your academic or creative work. International applicants should provide a copy of their passport and any visa already held.

You will need to arrange for two academic references to be provided. Referees must be able to comment on your academic ability and suitability for your proposed research project. Please download the reference request form and send it to each of your referees; the form is to be used as a guideline to show areas we would expect to be included within a reference. Please ask your referees to send their references either to you, for you to send on with your application documents, or direct to us at PGRadmissions@bathspa.ac.uk

Please return all application forms and accompanying application materials by email to: PGRadmissions@bathspa.ac.uk

or by post to: Graduate College Administrator,

Bath Spa University, Corsham Court, Corsham, Wiltshire, SN13 0BZ.

Tel: 01225 876368.

A number of factors are taken into account when considering applications, including our academic estimate of the quality of the research proposal together with any sample of work requested, as well as the capacity of the relevant School to provide a suitable supervisory team for this project. Please note that it is University policy not to enter into subsequent debate about a decision once it has been made.
