About This Website
The Bath Spa University website is a key marketing tool for the institution, providing information about our courses, programmes, Schools and Services. Our aim is to make this one of the best University websites in the country, providing visually appealing pages with clear information, to past, present and future students and staff.
This website is designed, built and maintained in-house by the Information Services department, in collaboration with the Marketing and Public Relations department. It is hosted on Windows web servers running Internet Information Services. The page templates include dynamically generated content coming from include files written in VBscript.

Current Projects
- Changing the Templating System to use Dynamic Web Templates (DWT).
- Fixing Character-set Metadata Fault.
- Convert all web pages from ISO-8859-1 character-set to UTF-8 character-set.
- Convert all web applications to be self-contained with restricted database access set on an app-by-app basis, rather than site wide basis.
- Move web apps from main website to applications server.
Planned Projects
- Update Freedom of Information pages to take account of changes to the underlying file structure of the website.
- Re-write the University Web Regulations, and produce a new set of editorial guidelines that will enable us to present a coherent corporate image. Also, produce a set of accessibility rules that meet UK legislation and W3C recommendations, and make a commitment to apply those rules to all in-house and externally commissioned websites.
