The Student Study Skills Centre is a service for the whole Bath Spa community.

About the Student Study Skills Centre
The Student Study Skills Centre offers advice to ALL Bath Spa University
students to help them improve their learning and reach their potential.
Topics we can advise on include following:
- academic writing;
- scholarship (referencing, transition to university, critical thinking);
- independent learning (time management, learning styles);
- oral presentation;
- reading and note-taking;
- and more!

INFORMATION FOR BSU STAFF
The SSSC offers bespoke workshops to any course at BSU; we can create
sessions that help your students prepare for a particular assessment or gain
a particular skill. For example, we can offer advice on the following
- particular grammar or punctuation issues,
- writing a certain type of assignment,
- preparing and delivering oral presentations, or
- exam revision and writing strategies.
We will work closely with you, the subject expert, to deliver customised
study skills advice suitable to the discipline and addressing issues of
particular concern to the cohort.

INFORMATION FOR EDUCATORS
In addition to offering study skills advice to Bath Spa University students,
the SSSC aims to improve practice by undertaking pedagogical research.
Recent and current projects include the following:
- the influence of student identity on academic writing
- differences in staff and students' perceptions of academic writing
- developing online study skills materials for widening participation students (BSU PedR-funded project with Dr Sally Griffin)
