About the School of Education

The School of Education at Bath Spa University offers a wide range of high quality courses suited to the range of professionals working in the field of Education.

For those considering teaching as a career we offer PGCE courses across the primary range, including nursery and early years, and secondary training in most subjects. We work in partnership with schools across the region and teachers in schools are mentors to our trainees.

Our Department of Education and Childhood Studies offers a number of programmes in Education. The BA/BSc in Education Studies offers a challenging and stimulating academic study of education in its broadest context, helping students to deepen and broaden their knowledge and understanding of Education. These courses are all suitable for those who wish to enter teacher training, or who wish to work with children and young people in the Every Child Matters Workforce. We also offer Foundation Degrees for those working in Early Years settings and for teaching assistants in all schools.

Our links with schools extend to a range of in-service programmes for teachers, from short certificate courses to an extensive Professional Masters Programme containing a variety of career-related pathways. Our tutors work in collaboration with schools and local authorities across the region, running a wide variety of research and development projects to develop policy and practice and to advance our understanding of education.
