Professional Master's Programme (PMP) Part-time Awards
Our Master's programme has a selection of both full time and part-time awards to study towards. For details of our Full Time Master's programme, click here.
Our part-time awards are suitable for those who wish to take a more flexible approach to their learning. Within the part-time programme, we have both specialist awards, that have specific modules that must be undertaken, and general awards, in which the content is flexible.
Participants undertaking general awards are initially registered to the 'Educational Practice' award. Based on the focus of their study, they may choose from a number of different titles for their final award.
General Awards
The following award titles indicate broad areas of focus. The award leaders can support study in these areas, and are a first point of contact.
Educational Practice
Making use of action research methodology, this award aims to support professionals investigate and make changes to an aspect of their own professional practice.
Participants undertaking any of the general awards are initially registered to the 'Educational Practice' award. Based on the focus of their study, they may choose from a number of different titles (listed below) for their final award.

Critical and Creative Thinking
An award designed to investigate the development of thinking skills.

Early Childhood Studies
This award for Foundation Stage practitioners and supply teachers includes studies that cover the contexts, theories, principles and practice of early childhood learning.

Educational Leadership and Management
This award for aspiring and practising educational leaders includes a number of small scale enquiries within the work place, enabling them to review current practice and develop their leadership approaches and skills.

Learning and Knowledge Technology
This award examines and evaluates how technology tools can be integrated into teaching and learning for all educational sectors.

Mentoring and Coaching
This award will be of interest to teachers who have mentoring and/or coaching roles in their school such as school based mentors, induction tutors and subject leaders.

Primary English Education

Primary Mathematics Education
Studying for this award will update professionals' knowledge within the mathematics curriculum and will focus on how critical reflection can support developments in teaching and learning.

Primary Science Education

Tertiary and Adult Education
This award is aimed at lecturers and tutors working in further and adult education professional settings and leads to either an MA or MTeach in Tertiary and Adult Education. It allows these professionals to engage in our flexible work-based learning modules, so as to work towards obtaining postgraduate qualifications. For those professionals without a first honours degree we offer enrolment onto our Graduate Certificate qualification with transfer of credit onto the main postgraduate qualifications for those successfully passing the G Cert in Tertiary and Adult Education.

Vulnerable Learners and Inclusion
This award may be tailored to cover a range of studies and activity, e.g. the notion of inclusion covers learners with learning difficulties, disabilities and bilingual learners and will cover practices such as multi-agency working.

Specialist Awards
Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice
This award is suitable for counsellors and psychotherapists who have completed a recognised counselling or psychotherapy training qualification, and who are working or who have worked professionally as a counsellor or psychotherapist.
Accreditation of Prior Learning for students from Counselling partners is encouraged from:
Bridgwater College, Southampton Counselling Services, Chichester Counselling Services and Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling.

Educational Assessment
This course is for teachers who want to incorporate best practice into their school-based assessments, for those who want to look closely at issues surrounding assessment in general and for those wanting to specialise in this aspect of education. It will provide, subject to practical experience, an opportunity to become full members of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors and to use the post-nominal letters MCIEA. (Flyer)

Specific Learning Difficulties/Dyslexia
Through the study of current research and practice in
SpLD/Dyslexia,
this award will lead participants to understand the design and
implementation of programmes and inclusive strategies. You can choose to
combine the academic study at Master's level with the development of
practical competence required by the British Dyslexia Association (BDA )
through professional placement supervised by expert tutors.
