Department of Education and Childhood Studies
The Department of Education and Childhood Studies offers a number of programmes in Education, rather than teacher training.
BA Single Hons Awards in Education Studies:
- Education Studies
- Early Years Education
- International Education
- Education Specialised Awards Leading to PGCE-Primary (teacher training)
BA/BSc Combined Hons:
- Education with a second subject
- Education with a second subject and specialised award leading to PGCE Primary
Foundation Degrees:
The BA/BSc in Education Studies offers a challenging and stimulating academic study of education in its broadest context, helping students to deepen and broaden their knowledge and understanding before embarking on a one-year PGCE or entering one of a range of related careers.
We offer a foundation degree in Early Years Education for people working in Early Years settings who wish to learn more about this vital area of work. Following government policy to extend the role and qualifications of teacher assistants, we also offer a foundation course for all those currently employed as teacher assistants who wish to improve their qualifications and their knowledge and understanding of the job.
