Welcome to Initial Teacher Education at Bath Spa University

Welcome to the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme, part of the School of Education at Bath Spa University. The programme has outstanding (Grade 1) Ofsted ratings for all three of its teacher education programmes: Primary, Secondary and Further Education. Working in partnership with schools and other stakeholders, we are committed to providing a high quality Initial Teacher Education programme to support the education of new teachers, children, young people and their communities.  We attract high calibre Bath Spa Teachers to the profession from a diverse range of social and cultural backgrounds and ensure that they are well prepared to meet the demands of the 21st Century.

The Initial Teacher Education programme offers  two awards:

• Postgraduate Certificate in Education, offered at Masters level
• Professional Graduate Certificate in Education, offered at Honours level

 These are offered as one year courses for Secondary in the following subjects:

• Art & Design
• Design & Technology
• English
• ICT
• Mathematics
• Modern Languages
• Music
• PE
• RE
• Science

The Primary and Early Years PGCE programme is offered for the following age phases:

• 3-7 (part-time)
• 3-7 (full-time)
• 5-11 (full-time)
