Media Communications

Media Communications at Bath Spa University provides students with an exciting and interdisciplinary approach to the study of media in contemporary societies. We study media in relation to their social, political, economic and cultural contexts and in relation to social relations and processes of change. Students are encouraged throughout their three years of study to apply media concepts, theories and methods to actual media phenomena including current media texts, media organisations and production and media audiences and processes of media impact and effects.

We equip students with the basic analytical tools needed to critically appraise today's media and all students are encouraged to engage in 'hands-on' analyses of media. This makes for an exciting, up-to-the-moment, and critically engaged programme of studies. The subject is taught by active researchers and we will provide you with an overview of some of the latest thinking and engaged scholarship in the media communication field.
