Professor James Saunders and Dr Steve May took part in a live link up with the J M Coetzee Centre in Adelaide this week. The subject of the symposium was “John Cage and Angela Carter in Bath”, and also featured Maggie Tonkin, Rosemary Moore and Stephen Whittington from Adelaide. A film [http://vimeo.com/artsworkmedia/cage] of Bath Spa students performing Bowbarovsk, a Travelling Circus on Nights at the Circus at the Bath Music Festival in June was shown, and Saunders and May then talked about the process by which the piece was made, and answered questions from the audience. The symposium was chaired by Nicholas Jose, who is Professor of English and Creative Writing at Adelaide, and also visiting Professor of Creative Writing at Bath Spa. Further events are planned, including live creative collaborations involving words and music.
