Help for Students

We offer:

• 1:1 Appointments: A WLC tutor will look at your previous and/or current work and help you consider how to improve.
• Workshops: Share questions, ideas, and problems with a WLC and other students from across the university.
• Online Chats: (coming soon)
• Resources: Check out Minerva and Career Hub for tip sheets, examples of student work and feedback, and more!

Topics include academic writing, referencing, preparing for exams, improving your study habits, understanding the UK higher education system, or whatever help you need to develop your writing and learning.

We also offer appointments and events for international students who need help with English.  If you need help with the new system, watch this short screen-cast.

Of course, all of these services are FREE to Bath Spa University students.

Info for Staff

The WLC can help your students meet the expectations in your discipline or for a specific assignment. We can offer:

1. A bespoke session for students in your department, course, or module;
2. WLC post-it notes (handy for sticking to student work);
3. Referral text to add in GradeMark or for other tech-assisted feedback;
4. Collaborations on research or other events;
5. Slides to introduce your students to the Writing and Learning Centre;
6. GradeMark resources (see below).

1. We’re also collecting examples of student work and tutor feedback to help students understand how to meet expectations. Email examples to wlc@bathspa.ac.uk.
