More than just a job – working for Bath Spa University is a chance to explore, discover, learn and grow. The Enterprise & Local Partnerships Team at the University has welcomed one of its own graduates to support the development of a university-wide coordinated placements service to employers, students and staff.

Jamie Bradbury, who followed up the BA Education Studies degree at Bath Spa University with a PGCE, has taken up the role of Placements Administrator. With a strong background in database systems and excellent customer service, together with experience as a Student Ambassador and peer mentor whilst at university, Jamie brings a professional approach to this front line role. Based at the stunning Newton Park campus, Jamie will be developing and maintaining records and administrative systems, building effective working relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders and providing placements administration support for the University’s new Open Module and placements in the curriculum.

Commenting on the role this job will play in his career development, Jamie said: "Working for the student community has always been important to me and this role has enabled me to showcase the skills I have developed while at university and also from previous work I did for the Jobcentre. I feel lucky to have such a supportive team to help me within the lovely surroundings of the campus, and I am looking forward to embracing lots of new challenges in the future."

Susan Cherrett, Enterprise & Employer Liaison Manager, says of Jamie’s appointment: “Placements in business are one of the most valuable experiences for helping a student to step from university into the world of work. Demand from students for placements is increasing every year and we’re delighted to welcome Jamie to this new role, as we respond to this demand by expanding our placements team.”

Bath Spa University is constantly looking for opportunities for students to engage with the workplace and to gain industry experience.  There are a number of mutually beneficial ways in which a student can assist an organisation.
