Welcome to Computing Services Web Site

We aim to provide students and staff with a modern network giving you access to the software and other network services that you need to study or work here. This includes student PC labs with access to course related software, technicians to help you when you are stuck and wireless networks where you can use your own PC or handheld device.
Strategy
Our strategy for 2009/10 - 2012/13 is:
- Information technology will be widely used in all aspects of the University
but giving particular emphasis to:
- e-learning tools;
- remote working for students and staff;
- distance learning tools;
- unified communications tools (integrating voice, instant messaging, audio/video conferencing);
- business intelligence tools;
- improved management information;
- improved delivery of software to the desktop;
- awareness of the environmental cost of IT;
- flexible approach to acquiring IT solutions (in-house, outsource, 'cloud computing');
- increased use of handheld devices over wi-fi and GSM networks.
- Improved services for remote learning and home working will help the University's environmental strategy and could include better video conferencing facilities for working both in the University and externally.
