Terms Of Reference - Approved By The Vice-Chancellor
- To review the University Health, Safety and Fire Management Policy (HSFMP) in the light of statutory requirements and best practice
- To satisfy itself that the Health, Safety and Fire Management Policy is being implemented
- To recommend the establishment of working groups to investigate any aspect of health and safety as appropriate
- To monitor and highlight priorities for Health and Safety training
- To study accident records and recommend remedial action where appropriate
- To receive reports of Health and Safety Inspections and Fire Evacuation Practices from Area Safety Managers and where appropriate recommend improvements in procedure
- To scrutinise Fire Safety Management audit reports
Safety Working Group
Terms Of Reference
- To carry out impartial health and safety investigations
- To consider any safety concerns
- To carry out independent Safety Risk Assessments as appropriate
- To put forward recommendations to H&S Committee
Previous Terms Of Reference
- To study accident and illness records and make recommendations for corrective action
- To examine Safety Inspection Reports and to consider reports provided by the Inspectorate and union safety representatives
- To assist in the development of safety rules and systems of work
- To monitor the effectiveness of H&S communications in the workplace
- To provide a link with the Inspectorate
- To carry out inspections additional to those mentioned above, as necessary.
