6.7 Hot Work Permit
Hot Work is welding and cutting work for construction/demolition activities that involve the use of portable gas or arc welding equipment. When these activities are carried out in direct contact or close to flammable or combustible substances there is a risk of fire, explosion and the production of toxic substances. Such outcomes could result in serious injury or damage to property and the environment. it is consequently essential to control contractors by permit procedure to minimise the risks associated with hot work to an acceptable level.
