Welcome to Information Services
Information Services is tasked with providing the best information to decision makers, to deliver the university's business goals. Decision makers include students, staff and senior management. We are closely aligned with Computing Services, Finance, Human Resources and Student Services... see diagram (Wiki).

Made up of information experts and developers, we implement and maintain core systems and services such as Dream, ResourceLink, SITS and Minerva, and support systems such as Liquid Office. We are responsible for in-house systems such as the Accommodation, Student Services and the Work Management System.
Along with the closely aligned departments, Information Services shares responsibility for modernising the administration of the University. The primary goals of modernising the administration are:
- To better meet the needs and expectations of staff and students by ensuring that the objectives of the university's core services are aligned and synergistic.
- To take maximum advantage of technological advances to ensure that processes across all core services are automated as far as possible.
- To make available up-to-date on-demand management information to all staff as appropriate to their responsibilities and needs. This will frequently take the form of web-based information drawn from a data-warehouse synchronised with the university's core systems (Student Records, Finance, Human Resources, Payroll).
- To make best use of all available staff within Core Services including for sickness and absence cover, and to enable the use of "one-stop-shops" and "surgeries" for dealing quickly with a complex set of student problems or queries which might otherwise have taken much longer to resolve.
