Xavier managed to secure the much sort after role of Library Helper in Oct 2009. The role is to provide assistance to library users and library security outside of core Library opening hours.
One of the most important aspects of the job is excellent customer service skills. The work also involves general office duties and computing skills.
Xavier has enjoyed working in the Library. In particular he has enjoyed working as part of a friendly team and being given the responsibility of running the library on his own.
Xavier will be starting a 1 year Internship with the London Library when he completes his studies this year.
I know I wouldn’t have got the Internship if it wasn’t for my experience of working in the University Library
Xavier sees his library job as a stepping stone to achieving his future career aims. After the internship, Xavier plans to study for a Masters in Information Management and then hopes to work within the area of Media research, preferably for the BBC.
