The John Johnson Collection
This collection provides access to thousands of items selected from the John Johnson Collection of Printed Ephemera, housed in the Bodleian Library, Oxford, offering unique insights into the changing nature of everyday life in Britain in the eighteenth, nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
The collection was assembled by John de Monins Johnson (1882-1956), Printer to the University. It contains a high proportion of unique material, which has remained largely hidden to scholars and researchers. When the digitisation project is complete, there will be access to over 150,000 items in the following categories:
- 19th century entertainment
- the booktrade
- popular prints
