Renewing
There are several different ways of renewing loans:
- You can renew them yourself through the library catalogue (see below)
- You can renew them via the self-service machines
- If you are a Masters or PMP student or a Wessex partnership student or tutor, you can renew your loans over the phone: please see the library's web pages on services to these students and staff.
How to renew your loans on the catalogue
Your User ID is the six-figure number on your ID card. Your PIN is set as your birth date in six digits, e.g. birthday 17 June 1988, PIN 170688.
- From any networked PC (at University or at home), go to the library home page and, from Search the Library Catalogue, select the campus you are based at.
- Click on Self Service at the top of the screen then Renew My Materials.
- You will be prompted for your User ID and PIN.
- Once you have entered these, you will see details of your loans and holds.
- You can renew individual items by checking the Renew Selected Items button then ticking the appropriate boxes to the right of the titles.
- You can renew all your loans at once by checking Renew All.
- In either case, the system will:
- Respond with the date on which the loans are now due AND/OR
- Give a message indicating that the loan has not been renewed which case you should return it to the Library as soon as possible
- You can renew loans up to 5 times, with the exceptions listed below.
VERY IMPORTANT! When you have finished, click on Logout on the toolbar at the top of the screen to prevent others from accessing and/or misusing your personal information.
There are restrictions on renewals...
You will not be able to renew your loans:
- If there are holds on the item(s)
- If you have reached the renewal limit
- If you are blocked from library loan privileges because of overdue loans or outstanding debts
