Checklist for undergraduates
May
- Make sure you apply for funding. If you haven't already done so, you should do this urgently by visiting: www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance. The deadline is 31st May 2012 for new full time students and 26th June 2012 for continuing students. You can use the Student Finance Calculator to get an estimate of how much funding you may receive, register for a Student Finance England account and login and apply for student finance.
June
- The student housing application system is now open to eligible firm choice students. You should have already been contacted by the Student Housing team via email to advise if you are eligible and how to apply. The application system closes on midday on 6th July 2012 and all applications must have been submitted by this time. More information can be found at http://thehub.bathspa.ac.uk/services/housing/new-students/Applying-Help If you have applied for a course at one of our Wessex partner colleges, you may receive information from the college directly about accommodation options. If you have not received this information we would recommend that you contact your college directly about this. Please contact the Student Housing team (accommodation@bathspa.ac.uk) if you have any questions or wish to enquire about other accommodation options.
- Keep checking your email account (including junk mail) for updates from us.
- If you are an overseas applicant and require a visa to study in the UK, you should make your Tier 4 visa application following receipt of a Certificate of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number from Bath Spa University. Your offer letter will have contained information on this. Please contact intoffer@bathspa.ac.uk if you have any concerns or questions.
July
- If you have applied for any of the following courses, you will need to complete a Criminal Records Bureau Enhanced Disclosure application which we will issue to you. We will need to have received a fully completed application with the required documentation before you can enrol onto the course, so please ensure that you do this as quickly as you can after you receive the application from us. The courses are: Foundation Degree in Counselling; Foundation Degree Early Years; Foundation Degree in Education for Teaching Assistants; Foundation Degree Health and Social Care Management; Early Years Professional Status; BA Education Specialised courses. Please be aware that if, when you start at BSU, you find that you will be in regular contact with children or vulnerable adults as part of the course, you will need to check with your tutor whether or not you will need a Criminal Records Bureau Enhanced Disclosure. If you do, please contact admissions@bathspa.ac.uk, stating your name, course and student number.
- If you want to work, start thinking about part-time jobs during term time.
- Ask about transferring any current part-time work to Bath or remember to contact the Job Shop when you start in September.
- Keep checking your email account (including junk mail) for updates from us.
- If you are an international fee paying applicant, please ensure that you have paid your deposit for your studies. Information on this can be found here.
July/August
- The results are in – if you have not met the conditions:
- Check UCAS Track to see if your place has been confirmed
- If no final decision has appeared on UCAS track, it is because we have not been able to make a decision as yet. This is either because some of your results are missing or because, if you have just missed meeting our conditions, we need to ensure that we have places available before we are able to confirm or not confirm your place. If you believe that you are missing results and have received them separately, please contact us: admissions@bathspa.ac.uk
- The results are in – if they are what you were expecting and you
have met our conditions:
- You will receive confirmation via UCAS (check UCAS track) and will receive details of Bath Spa University Joining Instructions in the weeks following getting your results
- Don’t forget to send us proof of your results if you have received a conditional offer to pass any qualifications other than A levels and BTEC. You can send these by fax (marked 'Admissions') to 01225 875444 or scan and email them to admissions@bathspa.ac.uk If you have been asked to pass an Art Foundation Course, you will have heard from us with a request for your results separately.
- If you have applied for year 2 or 3 entry and are already a BSU student, we will receive notification of your results internally, so you don't need to worry about informing us. If you are an external applicant for year 2 or 3 entry, please ensure that you send proof of your current course results to admissions@bathspa.ac.uk.
- Keep checking your email account (including junk mail) for updates from us.
- Finance information and instructions for paying fees will be on our website.
- Details of Joining Instructions will be sent to you by email so please ensure that you check your email account regularly (including junk mail).
