Student Services are here to help you get the most out of your time at university and get the best out of all aspects of student life.
The Student Services department comprises three sections:
- Admissions Service
- Student Administration Service
- Student Support Service
1. Admissions Service
The Admission Service deals with applications to study at Bath Spa University. Your application to study here will have been processed by the Admissions Service and if you are already thinking of applying to do a further course – for instance, to go on to teacher training – your application will be handled by an Admissions Officer. All of the information in the 'Your Application' web pages is related to our Admissions Service so you will already be very familiar with us!

2. Student Administration Service
The Student Administration Service covers all aspects of student-related administration, including:
- Management of student programmes, including
- Student records (including students’ personal details)
- Assessments and results
- Mitigating circumstances
- Requests to change course, route or modules
- Unfair practice
- Room booking and timetabling – the Student Administration Service is responsible for the academic timetable; allocating students to modules and producing student timetables; and also deals with the booking of rooms on a day to day basis
- Organisation of Graduation ceremonies, printing of certificates (including the provision of replacement certificates) and transcripts, and contacts with alumni (students after they have graduated).
- Provision of management information for the University and outside agencies

VERY IMPORTANT
Using the Student Portal
It is very important that all students make as much use as possible of the online Student Portal. Much of the work carried out by Student Services and contact with you as a student will be accessed via the Student Portal by going to
https://studentportal.bathspa.ac.uk.
All the following (and more) can be done through the Student Portal (please be aware that you will have access to the Student Portal only when you register for the course):
- Enrol
- Pay for studies as part of registration
- Choose modules
- Get timetables
- Change personal details (address, telephone number, etc.)
- Apply for teacher training bursaries
- Register for a doctor
- See results
- Book Graduation tickets
3. Student Support Service
The Student Support Service offers specialist information, advice and guidance to students, principally in the following areas:
- Disability Support
- Welfare and Money Advice
- Medical Service
- Chaplaincy

- Disability Support
The Disability Support specialists work with disabled students, including those who have sensory or physical impairments or specific learning difficulties (SpLD), to ensure that their learning and social experience at University is as wide-ranging and successful as possible. The team will endeavour to provide support from first contact with Bath Spa University, throughout your course of study and until completion. - Welfare and Money Advice
The welfare advisors provide information, support and guidance on a range of issues, such as study-related difficulties; finances; relationship problems; loneliness; and mental and physical health. Welfare operates a combination of drop-in sessions and pre-bookable appointments and aims to respond to all initial enquiries within 24 working hours.
- University Medical Service
All students are encouraged to register with the University Medical Service – you can do this on the Portal. Regular Surgeries are held at Newton Park, or students can visit a doctor at the group practice in Fairfield Park.
- University Chaplaincy Services
The University welcomes students of all faiths and none. Student Support Service works with the Chaplaincy to provide details and information for anyone wishing to make contact with any faith.
