Our Links With Schools
The School of Education highly values its long-term relationships and work with school partners and their communities. The partnership represents a strong community of learners that is characterised by a commitment to raising standards and sharing best practice. Together we support the development of new teachers and enhance the quality of the teaching profession. The partnership places pupils' learning at the centre of a model of practice and aspires to:
- work collaboratively to meet the challenges of a 21st Century society;
- develop innovative strategies to support pupil and teacher learning;
- raise academic standards and improve behaviour;
- look for creative and innovative ways to develop new educational ideas from existing practice.
In our most recent inspection report, Ofsted highly praises the partnership: "Excellent communications and the very high quality of support and guidance enhance the cohesion between central and school-based training". In addition, the report highlights that the strength of partnership "has had a positive impact on trainees’ understanding and confidence as well as supporting school improvement. The university is very committed to its schools and has a detailed knowledge of their potential as training venues".
The partnership remains central to the way we define and support the professional development of our teachers; it will continue to shape the future direction of our programmes.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
The University can support schools in all phases in the provision of high quality Continuing Professional Development. This may take the form of courses which individual teachers may wish to attend, programmes which support whole-school development plans, curriculum development projects, or large scale projects involving groups of schools. For further information please click here.
The University is always interested in hearing from schools which would be interested in joining the partnership. Please contact:
