Applying for an AHRC Studentship
Applicants for an AHRC studentship must first have applied to, and been accepted for, the relevant masters/doctorate programme either unconditionally or conditionally. If you have not already applied you should visit the relevant award webpage for details on how to do so through the web links above, or through the postgraduate course pages here for Masters information or here for PhD Creative Writing information.

Notes for AHRC Studentship Applicants
Most of the information we require can be gained from your original application to the University, although we will require you to submit an additional AHRC Studentship Application form to ensure that you meet their eligibility criteria. We expect competition for these studentships to be fierce; you should therefore make your additional AHRC Studentship Application as applied as possible to the award and your career aspirations, and using the most appropriate referee(s).
Before you apply you should familiarise yourself with the AHRCs eligibility requirements which can be found in their guide to student funding guide to student funding (.pdf). In particular applicants should ensure that they meet the scheme eligibility (Section 7), residency eligibilty (Annex 1, page 67 onwards) and conditions on other paid employment if holding a full AHRC award (page 17). On the last point applicants should note that they should not undertake more than 6 hours paid work per week (averaged across the award period) if applying for a full-time award.
