What do I do now?
Over the summer
Do take a look at our Summer Checklist (below) which will give you more information about what you need to do before the start of your course. Please be aware that the start dates and registration dates vary for Masters courses. They will be confirmed to you during the summer, so please look out for our email. (Make sure you check your junk mail too!)
When you have your results
If you have received a conditional offer from us, please send your original documents to us when the are available. Please send these by recorded delivery, clearly stating your name and the course for which you have applied, to: The Admissions Service, Bath Spa University, Newton Park, Bath, BA2 9BN. We will then return them to you by recorded delivery.
If your results meet our offer requirements, you will be notified, either directly by the Admissions Officer, or via GTTR for PGCE applicants. You will then receive details of your joining instructions in late August/early September. Please ensure that the email address you have provided to us is correct, as our correspondence to you through the summer will be via email.
If your results were not what you were expecting and do not meet our offer requirements, please call us on 01225 875624 to see if we are still able offer you a place.
If you received an unconditional offer from Bath Spa University for a postgraduate course OTHER than a PGCE course, then you need not do anything until you receive your Joining Instructions in late August/early September (PGCE applicants should consult our checklist for postgraduates for more information).
Terms and conditions
Bath Spa University are committed to all students and our aim is to make your time with us as productive, rewarding and enjoyable as possible. As part of that commitment, we respect and value you as an individual and we seek to support you throughout your studies in any way that we can. Your contribution to achieving our aim is to join with us in a two-way dialogue. In addition, it is a vital that you understand your responsibilities as a student and the regulations and conditions that will apply to you. It is important that you take some time to read and understand this information, and if you have any questions, contact us so that we can assist you. All students have to agree to these terms and conditions when they register at the start of each year – and we publish this information now so that you have the opportunity to ask any questions in advance or to seek advice from a friend or relative should you so wish.
Our terms and conditions will be available for you to view shortly - please ensure that you check back regularly so that you are able to read them in plenty of time before you are asked to agree to them at the start of the year.
Summer Checklist
June/July/August
- Make sure you have your funding, for example, Career Development Loan, in order.
- Apply for help with finding accommodation if you haven’t already done so. Please take a look at the Student Housing Service website.
- If you are an overseas applicant and require a visa to study in the UK, you should make your Tier 4 visa application following receipt of a Certificate of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number from Bath Spa University. Your offer letter will have contained information on this.
- If you have applied for PGCE for teacher training, you must complete and return the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) form (previously known as Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) form), medical and GTC suitability declaration paperwork to us urgently.
- You may, by now, have received your degree or other qualification results. If these were part of a conditional offer, please send your original documents to us. Please send these by special delivery, clearly stating your name and the course for which you have applied, to: The Admissions Service, Bath Spa University, Newton Park, Bath, BA2 9BN. We will then return them to you by special delivery.
- If you are considering looking for a part-time jobs during term time, remember to contact the Job Shop when you start the course.
- Keep checking your email account (including junk mail) for updates from us.
- Finance information and instructions for paying fees will be made available on the website.
- Details of Joining Instructions will be sent to you by email, so please check your account (including junk mail!).
September/October
- Start online registration, following receipt of Joining Instructions (which will tell you how to do this) and prior to attending your enrolment session.
- Don’t forget to send your qualification certificates to us if you haven’t already done so.
- Arrange for a TV Licence and insurance for personal possessions.
- Start the course (see course dates - please note that start dates vary and your enrolment date will therefore be confirmed to you closer to the time).
- Apply for your Bath Spa University parking permit online if you will be living in independent housing.
