Our new Virtual Internship Scheme provides organisations with fully-funded resources to help support their essential business requirements.
What is a virtual internship?
We're offering employers the opportunity to recruit a Bath Spa University student for remote project-based work. The University will fully subsidise the student's wages and is now seeking project opportunities that will also support our students’ skills and attributes development. We particularly welcome submissions from third sector organisations and SMEs.
- For employers, an internship could help you to solve a specific resource issue, or undertake an additional project whilst benefiting from fresh ideas. It's a low risk opportunity to try out future graduate talent.
- For students, internships provide an opportunity to develop skills needed for the world of work, ultimately enhancing their employability and long-term career prospects. It also gives them a unique opportunity to prepare for a digital age where virtual working becomes more common, and is a way of enabling them to prosper in the graduate market.
Projects need to be no more than 50 hours in total. To coincide with University semesters, project proposals will be considered during the following times*:
- Semester one: 30 September 2020 - 2 November 2020
Internships must be completed by 31 January 2021.
- Semester two: 1 February 2021 - 1 March 2021
Internships must be completed by 31 July 2021.
*Subject to change (early or extended closure) as determined by funding available.
How to take part
To take part, please complete our Project Proposal Form. You'll be asked to provide details of your internship, including a brief overview of the project and the skills required by the applicant. We'll review the information and get in touch with next steps.
Projects will be advertised to students via our online jobs portal, and we'll ask you to select the most suitable candidate. The University has committed to pay these students for the duration, at a rate of £9.30 per hour. Our students have a broad range of skills that they can offer you, but this also gives them a unique opportunity to prepare for a digital age where virtual working becomes more common, and is a way of enabling them to prosper in the graduate market.
We've produced an Employer Guide with more information about the Virtual Internship Scheme, guidance, expectations and frequently asked questions.
