    • Work with experienced local printmaker Jane Shaw at our Etching and Lithography studio in central Bath.
    • Access Bath School of Art and Design's superb facilities and study in the heart of Bath.

    Relief printing is a versatile technique with a range of methods to achieve a stunning result.

    In this one-day masterclass with experienced printmaker Jane Shaw, you'll experience the various techniques of relief printing, using linocut, embossing, woodcut, and wood engraving to achieve a piece of art to take home.

    About your tutor

    Jane Shaw has worked in London and Bath as a freelance illustrator and artist for over 25 years. She has worked in further and higher education and is now combining her independent freelance work with the position of Printmaking Technical Demonstrator at Bath Spa University.

    What you'll do

    You'll experience the different techniques of relief printing:

    • Linocut
    • Embossing
    • Woodcut
    • Wood engraving.

    Location

    The course will take place in the Etching and Lithography department at Locksbrook Campus.

    Cost

    The fee for this programme is £80 inclusive of printing materials.

    What to bring

    Bring an apron for protect your clothes, and if you have long hair, this must be tied back for safety reasons.

    You'll also need an image to work from, and/or a sketchbook, notebook, pencils, and an A3 portfolio or folder to take your work home.

    You can bring your own lunch, or eat at Café Sion. Light refreshments are provided.
