This five-week course covers the foundations of good photography, from understanding equipment to putting the basics into practice.
We'll focus on aperture, shutter speed and ISO, before learning about composing an image and the elements that make up a good photograph. You'll also learn how to transition from automatic to manual settings on a digital SLR camera.
- Workshop dates: starts 27 February for five weeks (ends 27 March)
- Time: 6-7.30pm
- Frequency: five evening class sessions
What you'll do
We'll look at digital photographic equipment such as lenses and cameras, and their uses within the different photographic fields. We'll also learn where things are on a digital SLR.
We'll learn how to use aperture and shutter speed, in theory and in practice, as we put this into action in the classroom.
We'll learn how to use ISO and white balance, and put this into action within the classroom.
We'll explore what makes a good photograph and how the basics can be put into practice, i.e. depth of field, a moving subject, and low lighting. We'll also look at how to compose and construct a photograph.
This is your opportunity to put everything we've done so far into practice, and summarise what you've learned.
The course will take place at Bath School of Art and Design in central Bath.
The fee for the programme is £150 for all five sessions.
