Learn the basics of woodblock printmaking on this two-day course in Bath. Working from your own designs, which you'll bring with you, you'll learn to cut your woodblocks and make prints from them.
All levels are welcome – whether you're an artist looking to expand your practice, a beginner, or somewhere in between.
About your tutor
Jane Shaw has worked in London and Bath as a freelance illustrator and artist for over 25 years. She has worked in further and higher education and is now combining her independent freelance work with the position of Printmaking Technical Demonstrator at Bath Spa University.
What you'll do
You'll cut your own designs into woodblocks, then print from them using translucent washes of watercolour and gouache. All of the processes and use of the tools and materials are demonstration-led, and experimentation with the effects is encouraged.
The course will take place at our new Locksbrook Road campus, BA1 3EL.
The fee for this programme is £150 for both days.
What to bring
Please bring your sketches, photographs, inspiration and a small portfolio to take your prints home.
All the tools and materials you'll need to complete the course are provided and included in the cost, although some additional specialist materials may be available to buy, if desired.
Please wear old clothing and closed footwear (no open sandals). Long hair must be tied back for safety reasons.
