Temporary access to extra online resources

To help students and staff working in the virtual University during the ongoing Coronavirus / COVID-19 pandemic, many publishers have generously offered free, temporary access to their online resources. These are listed below and supplement the wide range of digital resources already provided by Bath Spa University.

Library staff will be adding more resources to this page as they become available. Please email library@bathspa.ac.uk if you have any questions.

A&A ePortal

The A&AePortal is an authoritative eBook resource that features important works of scholarship in the history of art, architecture, decorative arts, photography, and design.

With innovative functionality and extensive metadata, the site includes many out-of-print titles, key backlist, and recent releases from some of the world’s finest academic and museum publishers.

Annual Reviews

Founded in 1932, Annual Reviews provides researchers, professors, and scientific professionals with a definitive academic resource in more than 45 scientific disciplines, amongst which particularly relevant to BSU students are: psychology, biology, criminology, economics, food science, nutrition, law and social science, politics.

Annual Reviews saves you time by synthesizing the vast amount of primary research literature and identifying the principal contributions in your field.

Berghahn Journals

Berghahn Journals includes close to 40 journals and over 125 new titles a year in the humanities and social sciences. Subjects relevant to BSU: History, Politics, Education, Geography, History, Film Studies, and Cultural Studies.

Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of Philosophers

Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of Philosophers features thousands of critical biographical entries on individuals who have contributed to the history of thought and philosophy. The platform now contains more than 8,000 entries, including 1,650 Dutch, French and German thinkers. Alongside the giants of philosophy you will encounter people from other intellectual domains: civil rights activists, classicists, clergymen, economists, mathematicians, novelists, poets, politicians and scientists who had something to say on topics that count as philosophical.

The Cochrane Library is a collection of databases that contain different types of high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making. This is particularly useful to BSU psychology students.

Duke University Press Euclid Project

Euclid Prime is a collection of high-impact, peer-reviewed journals in theoretical and applied mathematics and statistics, now enhanced by the functionality of the Project Euclid platform.

The platform also gives access to Duke Mathematical Journal (DMJ) one of the world’s top ten mathematics journals and an essential resource for mathematics faculty and postgraduate programs.

Duke University Press eJournals and eBooks

e-Duke Books provides access to over 2,700 e-books in humanities and social sciences.

e-Duke Journals provides online access to journals in the humanities and social sciences.

The collection includes flagship publications, such as Hispanic American Historical Review and GLQ: A Journal of Lesbian and Gay Studies.

It also includes important new scholarship in cutting-edge fields, such as TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly, Public Culture, and the Journal of Middle East Women’s Studies.

E-Marefa

E-Marefa is an integrated database of full-text academic journals, statistics, articles, dissertations, e-books, book reviews, conference proceedings and abstracts about the Arabic World.

As well as the full text of 1900 academic and statistical periodicals in English and Arabic, the resource includes the e-Marefa DataBank for Islamic Economics and Finance.

FilmedonStage.com provides access to a selection of their database of filmed Broadway and West End theatre productions for free.

National Theatre at Home

All National Theatre productions will be free and screened live every Thursday at 7.00pm UK time and will then be available on demand for seven days on the NT's YouTube channel.

SAGE Research Methods Datasets is a collection of teaching datasets and instructional guides that give students a chance to learn data analysis by practicing themselves.

University of Michigan Press

University of Michigan Press has made 1,150+ eBooks in the humanities and social sciences free-to-read. Relevant to BSU: Theatre and Performance, Law, History, Sociology, Literary Studies, Music, Political Science, Gender Studies, Cultural Studies and more.

JoVE

JoVE offers free access to an extensive STEM education video library, particularly useful to BSU biology and psychology students.

The database includes core concepts in Biology and Social Psychology; video demonstrations in eight STEM fields; videos for introductory biology lab courses.

VitalSource

VitalSource provides access to e-textbooks. Students need to create an account to access the free resources, which can be read online but are not available for download.

In addition to the above new resources, many of our existing suppliers have extended access to their collections and/or removed limits on maximum numbers of users, including DawsonEra, Askew and Holts, ProQuest, and EBSCO. These resources can be accessed through the existing Library Databases A-Z.
