Alumna selected for Hauser & Wirth LA residencyTuesday, 23 May, 2017
Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles have selected talented MA Fine Art Alumna Fiona Haines to participate in its exchange residency at CalArts in Los Angeles.
The brand new residency, launched by Hauser & Wirth, a leading international gallery of contemporary art and modern masters, enables artists from the prestigious California Institute for the Arts (CalArts) to exchange with Bath Spa University's Bath School of Art and Design.
The initiative has been designed to support emerging artists affiliated with the two universities, by offering them locations to live and work for an intensive short-term period in Los Angeles, USA and Somerset, UK.
The program encourages independent work while providing support through contact with academics, curators and artists.Fiona works as an artist in Bath. She completed a Masters in Fine Art specialising in Sculpture and Photography. In 2013 she was commissioned to make a sculpture for the Chelsea Flower Show and she won a Gold medal. In 2014 she was awarded the Gane Travel Award to Iceland and the Porthleven prize. Her work is held in the Fidelity International Collection and Oxford Castle Collection.
Fiona will be documenting her time during the residency and the work she creates via her Instagram feed.
