“The delight in seeing such an extraordinary range of approaches to the thrilling art of drawing (an activity that forms a vital part of my life and practice) soon overcame my anxieties. Other worries took over as it became clear that in order to make a manageable exhibition, we would, with regret have to exclude many interesting works. However, I believe the result is a visual and varied feast of excellence and I’m delighted to have had such an opportunity.” Nigel Hall RA, Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize selector 2018
Supported by Trinity Buoy Wharf Trust, the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize is a unique initiative led by founding Director, Professor Anita Taylor (Executive Dean of Bath School of Art and Design at Bath Spa University). In offering emerging, mid-career and established artists a national platform to exhibit their drawings, the exhibition has established a reputation for supporting and promoting their talent and excellence, and the role and value of drawing more widely.
The First Prize of £8,000, Second Prize of £5,000, a Student Award of £2,000, and the Trinity Buoy Wharf Trust Award for a working drawing, worth £1000, will be announced and awarded at the launch of the exhibition on 26 September 2018.
The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize exhibition will be on display at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London in September 2018, followed by a national tour that will include The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum in Cheltenham; The Gallery at AUB in Bournemouth; and the gallery at the Royal Drawing School in Shoreditch, London.
