Adrian Barton

Personal statement

Adrian is subject leader for Sociology and Criminology. He has worked in a number of British universities and has published extensively, especially in areas where health and criminal justice intersect.

He has worked more recently evaluating aspects of the NHS and has produced over 30 research reports for both statutory and voluntary sector organisations, including a number of police forces, domestic abuse charities and substance misuse organisations. In addition, he has worked as a consultant for substance misuse charities and has also been on the board of governors for the Harbour Centre, a drug and alcohol charity in Plymouth.

Looking beyond academic and practice audiences, Adrian has made a number of media appearances including BBC TV, both locally and nationally; Channel 4; BBC Radio 4 and 5, numerous local radio stations and has been interviewed and quoted in national and local newspapers.
