Claire Anne O’Brien is a textile designer and lecturer teaching knitted and constructed textiles on the Textiles for Fashion and Interiors course.
Claire Anne is a textile designer specialising in large-scale sculptural and three-dimensional knitted fabrics for interiors. Colourful, playful, and pattern-led fabrics and surfaces are inspired by traditional techniques such as weave, knotting and basketry.
Her studio produces bespoke commissions and fabric development for commercial and private clients, as well as a range of knitted wool furniture. Clients have included Google, Gandia Blasco and Mint.
Best known for her structural approach to knit and her passion for texture and surface pattern, she has exhibited at London Design Festival, Milan Furniture Fair, Wool Modern and Spinexpo and New York Design Week.
Claire Anne received the Future Maker Award from the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland in 2011 and the Cockpit Arts/Haberdashers’ Award in 2015.
