Sara joined Bath Spa University in 2014, leading engagement related activities and providing support for implementing our ISO14001 Environmental Management System.

She work closely with colleagues across the University, specifically with the Student Accommodation Team, Students Union and the Student Community Partnership to help deliver many of the programmes.

In conjunction with the Catering Team, we have been improving the food served at Bath Spa; since autumn 2014, we have held the Silver Food for Life Catering Mark from the Soil Association for meals served at the Refectory at Newton Park.

Successful partnership working has also been instrumental in running our successful end of year Pack for Good campaign. Working with the local authority (Bath and North East Somerset), Student Community Partnership, University of Bath and the Students Unions’ we help to divert from landfill any unwanted items including non-perishable food to local good causes such as food banks and the British Heart Foundation.

Sara also manages a team of Green Communicators; a group of students tasked with engaging their peers on sustainability issues. One of the biggest tasks of the academic year is engaging all freshers with the waste management system at Bath Spa to help us achieve our aspiration of an 80% recycling rate. We also offer a student placement opportunity every year to help us work on a major project within the Sustainability Team.
